The Oranjemund Town Council was established in 2012, after the Namibian Government declared and proclaimed Oranjemund as a town in 2011.

In accordance with the Local Authority Act (Act 23 of 1992), the Oranjemund Town Council is mandated to develop the town and to uplift and maintain the community’s living standards by providing municipal services.

Council’s Vision is shared by three aspects namely the community, the Council as a driver, and other local stakeholders. Our focus areas are guiding principles to create a sense of belonging in the community, to conserve the environment, to integrate into the broader region and to diversify the economy. Therefore Council continually strives to inform and involve key stakeholders to be part of the journey to shape the sustainable growth and development of the town of Oranjemund.
